Introducing artist Mark Hannon
Bio
“I've been involved in Art & Design throughout my life. I started as a young boy drawing comics at primary school, and then took Art A level and an Arts (BA Hons) degree, which included a (1st Class) thesis entitled: The use of Cartoons in Education'. My professional life has been spent shared between Broadcast TV design, animation, painting and commercial art. I have a keen interest in politics and current affairs, and enjoy the possibilities of blending art with humor, often to encapsulate current topics and trends. (l used to draw weekly political cartoons, which were broadcast on BBC1 SW) My style of work is as varied as my subject matter, but a predominantly figurative approach underlines my main interest. I have discovered acrylics in recent years, and this medium has now become my predominant choice for painting. l love Michelangelo and Rembrandt, but with an illustration and graphics background, my influences are primarily from artists such as Rene Magritte, Grant Wood, Edward Hopper, David Hockney, Egon Schiele & Lucien Freud.
These paintings are inspired by Mark's love of his local football team (we won't say who!) and yes always adding a message like Dali would in his style of satirical imagination.
